Pfaltzgraff dinnerware is one of the most recognizable brand of dishes in America. The company itself is over 200 years old and was originally started by German potter, Johann George Pfaltzgraff. He came from a family of potters, so that was an obvious choice for a trade when he and his wife settled in York County, Pennsylvania.

Pfaltzgraff started off producing a variety of utilitarian pieces for the local community. Storage vessels like jars, jugs and crocks joined the everyday necessities like mugs, plates and pitchers. Three of Johann Geroge’s six children joined the pottery business and helped grow the company into that would grow into one of the biggest suppliers of dinnerware.

Pfaltzgraff Dinnerware Favorites

Along with the old favorites, Pfalzgraff makes a variety of new patterns that are destined to become classics. These stoneware dishes are made from light-colored clay and fired at over 2200-degrees to create hard, durable finishes. The stoneware is typically thicker and heavier than porcelain or china, which makes them great for everyday use.
