Skinny jeans are all the rage. Just look inside popular magazines like US and People and you can see your favorite celebrity sporting her favorite size 0s skinny jeans. Sure she looks great and her legs look like they go on forever, but what about the rest of us, especially those us with excess of love handles (and more). Okay, let me put it bluntly: should we big girls wear skinny jeans?

Well, I'm here to say… yes! And we can look darn good in them, too.

No matter what your size, fashion should not be out of reach. Fortunately, designers are aware of that. Today, there are many choices for plus size girls and women, but unlike our skinny-minnie sisters, we need to take extra care to look super in a new pair of plus size skinny jeans.

So you’ve bought yourself a new pair of skinny jeans – now what? These simple fashion suggestions should help you look fabulous.

Long on top – Top off your skinny jeans with long tops, tunics and jackets. Now long doesn’t mean sloppy and over-sized. Make sure your tops are well structured and tailored. If you have a waist, show it off with a great belt.

If the shoe fits – the fashionestas say wear high heels with your skinny jeans to lengthen you leg line. Yeah, they do look good, but for me, a simple pair of ballet slippers are equally sexy. Whatever your choice, high or low, keep the look of the shoe slim and sleek.

All one color – or at least monochromatic. This is the old fashion rule we’ve all grown up with – one color looks slimming and doesn’t break up the body and make it look bigger.

Keep it simple – many skinny jeans styles come in lots of embellishments, from studs up the legs to fancy stitching on the back pockets or rips in the legs. For big girls, it best to keep the embellishments at a minimum. Like with the shoes, keep it slim and sleek.
